Wii Shortage Still Going Strong!!

Four months after the product launch and Nintendo Wii consoles are still hard to find. Hard? Nearly impossible.

Many gamers are finding them, one at a time, around the US online and in retail outlets. Many retailers are still bundling the product with USD $600.00 worth of merchandise to force it down the throats of the customer.

Kotaku has the lowdown from an interview with Nintendo President, Reggie Fils-Aime and the problem isn't going away soon...

"Nintendo manufactured, through the end of December, four million units worldwide. And to put this in perspective, the ramp up you need to have from a manufacturing standpoint to make four million units, and to make them flawlessly -- our defect rate is minuscule -- that's a huge challenge. Yet, because of the demand, because of the buzz, we could not satisfy consumers worldwide.

We work with our retailers to supply them on a regular and ongoing basis. Some retailers make decisions to hold product to support their circulars that typically drop on Sundays. But I'm now looking at a report that says in 93 percent of retail outlets, there are less than three hardware units available. That is a huge issue and something we're working very hard to fix."

Will it let up soon? Techdiversion.com is having similar issues getting these hot little Wii products in stock (and keeping them in stock).

We've only had a handful (literally) of these products and they've been sold before hitting the website, mostly to those on our waiting list.

Our list is still long, yearning the Wii's arrival. Soon, very soon we suspect. If you subscribe to our Blog Feed you'll be the first to know when they arrive.

If you're reading this and you've got a Nintendo Wii, checkout our Wii games catalog and Wii accessories. At least these are easier to find!
