"According to Nielsen ratings, over one-third of online adults play video games. 36.5 of U.S. adults own a gaming console; 71 percent of those adults are married and 66 percent of them have at least one child in the household. Sites like 2old2play.com and Geezer Gamers are popping up each and every day to show that unlike Trix, video games aren’t just for kids."
Considering all the rules that are trying to be put in place for protecting children in video games, one must respect the fact that a high degree of these gamers are older.
The consumers buying games today, casual and hardcore, probably also purchased a NES, SNES and Sega Genesis years ago.
We should protect or kids from graphic games, of course, but we also should consider the majority of gamers may be older than eighteen and have kids of their own.
The good news, gamer parents are well aware of what games their children should be playing. Unlike non-gaming parents that buy Halo 2 or Gears of War for their kid and then go "gosh! what is this!" months later, a gamer parent knows which games are appropriate for their children without a parental rating.
There is some good to come out of gaming parents, trust us :)
